Literature Text

Every time I see you, hear your voice, speak to you...
And when you look at me, smile at me, speak to me...
Nobody else exists, nothing else matters, the world around us fades and mutes into nothingness.
Time slows down, stands still.
It feels like it's just you and me - a world to ourselves, a world alone.
Only we're not alone, and it doesn't feel like it's just us, and it isn't a world to ourselves.
Only everybody else does exist, everything else does matter, and the world around us is still there.
And when you look at me, smile at me, speak to me...
And every time I see you, hear your voice, speak to you, smile back...
It pains me knowing that those things mean nothing out of the ordinary,
It pains me that you don't know just how much you brighten my day.
Sometimes I wish that you knew,
Sometimes I wish I could tell you,
But you can't know, and I can't tell you.
At least not now, at least not yet.
Not now, and not yet, but someday.
Someday I'll tell you and you'll know,
But for now it must remain a secret,
A secret best kept hidden.
Part one in a series of poems that I started writing early last year (2014).
